Musica Viva ~ Viva Vivaldi, Selected Musicians from Virginia & North Carolina

Vivaldi is one of the most popular and engaging composers of the whole classical music literature. This concert will include works for different combination of soloists with chamber orchestra.

The Moscow State Radio Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1978 for the primary purpose of broadcasting the great symphonic works over the radio, and subsequently on television. In addition to these broadcasts, the orchestra has produced thirty-two recordings and has toured throughout Europe, Asia, and an extensive 22-state tour in the United States in 2004. The Radford University performance will feature an all-Tchaikovsky concert that includes the “Hamlet Fantasy Overture,” “Violin Concerto in D Major,” and “Symphony No. 6 in B minor” providing our campus and community with a truly exciting and authentic presentation.

Moscow Festival Ballet

Thursday, April 15th at 8pm
Bondurant Auditorium, Preston Hall

The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in the great traditions of the Bolshoi and Kirov ballet companies. Under the artistic direction of Sergei Radchenko the company has performed the major, full-length classical works as well as contemporary repertoire throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. Their Radford University presentation of “Giselle,” music composed by Adolphe Adam and choreographed by the legendary Marius Petipa, is a tragic story of love and deception, all transcended by death. The production promises to be a musical and visual gift for the audience!
