Robert Jospé and Inner Rhythm

Robert
Jospé and Inner Rhythm have developed a
unique and distinctive blend of
contemporary jazz, African, Afro-Cuban,
Latin and funk that powers their
performance of original and classic jazz
works. Jospé has performed and recorded
with major jazz figures such as Michael
Brecker, Tony Williams, and Elvin Jones
and produced four recordings with Inner
Rhythm. Please join us for an evening of
exceptional jazz.
Chamber
Orchestra Kremlin
Monday, November 6th at 8pm Bondurant Auditorium, Preston Hall
Chamber
Orchestra Kremlin, directed by Misha
Rachlevsky, was founded in 1991 and
comprises some of Russia's finest
musicians. In its 15-year existence, the
orchestra has released 16 recordings and
presented over 1,000 concerts throughout
Europe, the United States and Canada.
The ensemble will perform works spanning
three centuries in their appearance at
Radford University.

Bulgarian
State Academic Opera "Turandot"

The
Bulgarian State Academic Opera was
established in 1996 by Ivan Kyurkchiev
to follow the great traditions of
European opera. Known throughout Europe,
the company is particularly renowned for
its rich repertoire and large-scale,
open-air productions. Their performance
at Radford University will be part of
their fifth U.S. tour. The beautiful
Turandot, a princess in Peking's
Imperial Palace, requires suitors for
her hand to answer three riddles.
However, the young man who successfully
guesses the riddles has a test of his
own for Turandot. The work features one
of the most popular and recognizable
arias of all time, "Nessum Dorma." This
presentation of Puccini's "Turandot"
will be a first in this area of
Virginia.

Moscow
Festival Ballet "Don Quixote"
Tuesday, March 27th at 8pm
Bondurant Auditorium, Preston Hall
The
Moscow Festival Ballet, founded in 1989
by the legendary Sergei Radchenko,
presents major works in the classic
Russian tradition. The company has
toured extensively throughout Europe,
Northern Africa, the Far East and the
United States. Their performance at
Radford University will be part of a
17-week tour and features the classic
work "Don Quixote," choreographed by
Morius Petipa to the music of Leon
Miekus.
